RAG-Coding: Enhancing LLM Medical Coding with Structured External Knowledge

This paper introduces RAG-Coding, an agentic method employing four LLM agents for automated ICD-10-CM coding, grounding decisions in external knowledge sources for enhanced accuracy and compliance. It outperforms existing LLM-based baselines on the MDACE dataset, emphasizing the importance of external knowledge integration.
