Chatbots at the drive-thru are just the beginning

McDonald's began deploying AI chatbots at drive-thrus in 2021, initially at 10 Chicago locations, after acquiring voice-based conversational technology startup Apprente in 2019. This initiative marks the beginning of AI's integration into daily customer interactions within the fast-food industry.
