Anthropic Silently Dropped Prompt Cache TTL from 1 Hour to 5 Minutes

Anthropic silently changed the default prompt cache TTL for its Claude API from 1 hour to 5 minutes on March 6, 2026. This unannounced regression may lead to near-zero cache hit rates and increased input token costs for users, as requests are now only cached if repeated within a 5-minute window.
